Building Consensus on Residential Measures: Recommendations for Outcome and Performance Measures

What is this?

This report commissioned by the National Building Bridges Initiative is designed to build a common foundation and spark a dialogue about outcome measures for residential interventions. It does this by reviewing best practices, identifying common principles and proposing the establishment of a core set of measures in the areas of system performance, provider performance, post discharge follow up, validated level of functioning tools, and experience of care.

Why is this important?

Consistent outcome measurement across residential providers will benefit youth and families, providers and payers by increasing transparency, accountability and information needed to improve the quality of residential interventions.
